Melissa’s career in financial services began in 1983 when she became a registered representative. She has worked for several well-known financial institutions, such as UBS PaineWebber, Nationwide Life Insurance Co., and the Acacia Group. Her passion for financial planning includes a desire to educate clients as part of the ongoing process. Melissa’s aim is to help her clients pursue their financial goals and become better informed investors along the way.
In 2003, Melissa and four other long-time colleagues formed Camelback Retirement Planners in order to provide a truly independent and comprehensive approach to financial planning. The formation of Camelback Retirement Planners represents the belief of each of the firm’s principals that, in order to provide world-class service and guidance, a financial professional should be free from the proprietary influences present at many of the larger national firms. Melissa completed the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional education program in 2001. She attained the Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®) designation in 2006, the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® designation in 2010, and the Accredited Domestic Partnership Advisor in 2013.She regularly participates in continuing education programs and conferences. She is an Investment Adviser Representative with Commonwealth Financial Network, member FINRA/SIPC. She has been a frequent guest on the Business for Breakfast radio show on KFNN and has spoken at educational forums throughout the valley. One particular focus of Melissa’s practice is assisting nontraditional families with their unique planning concerns. She holds a degree in economics from the University of Colorado.
Melissa has lived in Arizona since 1989 and is an avid sportswoman. She enjoys hiking, pickleball, and skiing. She is active in her community and has served on the boards of a local business organization and several charitable organizations. She has been a licensed foster parent and has enjoyed the experience tremendously.
Charles G. Carter, ChFC®, RICP®
Chuck has 18 years’experience in financialservices, qualified retirement planning, estate planning,and insurance design. He began his career as a financial advisor with Morgan Stanley Dean Witter in Phoenix Arizona and obtained his FINRA Series 7 and 63 securities registrations (now held through Commonwealth Financial Network®). In 1999, he worked with Nationwide Retirement Solutions, a national leader in providing qualified benefits to business, schools, and municipalities. In 2005, Chuck moved to Phoenix Life as a wealth management consultant and was recognized for high performance both in the field and in the home office. Chuck was named a member of the 2005 Rookie Cabinet, awarded the 2007 Speaker of the Year honor, and was a member of the Variable Universal Life strategic and marketing panel.
Most recently, Chuck worked as an insurance planning specialist at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. His focus was risk management, business succession planning, and estate planning. As a consultant, Chuck spent time with each client, reviewing their specific situation, portfolio holdings, and planning documents. Chuck earned two designations through the American College. In 2013, he completed the Charted Financial Consultant® (ChFC®) designation, and in 2016 he earned the Retirement Income Certified Professional® (RICP®) designation.
An Arizona resident since 1973, Chuck attended the University of Arizona and has a BS in business. He lives with his wife of 18 years, Brandi, and two very busy children in Phoenix, Arizona. When he’s not coaching his 12-year-old daughter in soccer or his 10-year-old son in baseball, he enjoys hiking Squaw Peak or going for a run.
